a week in the life…

To kick off this Monday, we’re recapping the last week and weekend with our Instagram pics! (I say our loosely, because we all know Justin doesn’t really use Instagram at all.)

We’re still on a green, smoothie kick – except I’ve been substituting the pear for strawberries. I’ve been so good at prepping ahead of time too. It’s so simple to toss in the blender before work and then we both have a nutritious breakfast on-the-go. This one-smoothie-a-day routine makes us feel like we’re doing something to improve our health, especially when one of us hasn’t been making it to the gym like we need to. Yea, that’d be me.

While I’ve been skipping the gym, I’ve been mastering my prepping ahead for the smoothies. The prep prior makes it so simple to toss the ingredients in the blender before work. Which results in a nutritious breakfast on-the-go for both of us. So even though I still haven’t mastered the “rises while it is still night,” I’m nailing the “gives food to her household.”

Speaking of giving food to my household, I tried vegetarian poblaños last week – nailed it! Okay, maybe I have a few things to tweak, but next time it’ll be perfect. (For instance, I should have baked the peppers prior to stuffing them and then re-baking with the stuffing. Pish, posh, I’ll get it right next go round.)

It’s pretty rare these days that I can go a minute without mentioning Chevvy & Ron’s, so I won’t try. In fact, I’m going to blab more and more about all that we’re doing. Like… the awesome, guitar center pieces you see below! Our custom creations debuted at the 27th Annual Lopez Hospice Golf Classic Pre-Tournament Bash, which benefited hospice and just-so-happened to be a Woodstock theme. Do you love them as much as we do?

It was definitely my lucky week at work! Not only did a friend surprise me with a cupcake from Cake-O-Licious Bakery, but I got a special, Starbucks delivery from another friend. Add to my lucky streak – new, spring wedges from Nordstrom (the only place I can find size 4 heels that aren’t for pre-teens). Aren’t they darling? I’m super pumped about wearing them this spring and summer!

On to the weekend fun, since Justin was on a bachelor’s trip for a friend – I had a bachelorette weekend. So while his weekend was spent catchin’ (& throwing back) gators, recklessness, and fishing, I spent mine sunbathing, painting my nails, and catching up on my reading. It. was. so. nice. Wonderful actually, but if I’m honest (which I try to be) I missed his company terribly. Thinking back, this may have been the first weekend we’ve spent a part since saying, “I do.” With that said, you should (accurately) assume that our reunion was filled with lots and lots of kissing. Too much?

Our reunion also included some mountain bike trails with this guy and late evening fun with the McB’s – who we were so happy to see after a week hiatus!

Speaking of the McB’s, I’m here to give you an update on James IV – a.k.a baby James. Since many of you have been inquiring…

He has been placed on the heart transplant list (officially, by the end of the week). Now is the waiting process, which means he could get a heart in the next week, 6 months from now, a year from now, or longer! The good news: with a new heart, James’ quality of life will be better and for now, he’s home! Not only is he home, but he’s giving out kisses generously.

So what should you pray? First, pray that he stays as healthy as he can be. If for some reason he got an infection and a heart became available, he wouldn’t qualify to receive it. Second, pray that the Lord provide a heart – in His way and in His time.

As time progresses and updates become available, I’ll keep you all posted. From the bottom of our hearts, Justin and I sincerely thank you for all of the prayers! The McB’s are practically a second family to us and we couldn’t possibly love them or James any more than we do.

To welcome James home, we surprised him with one of his favorites: balloons.

We’re still praising the Lord that James is home, happy, and healthy as can be expected! Below are a few scriptures that the Lord has used to remind us to pray, not worry, and trust Him – after all  He is our Redeemer, our Healer, and known for His miracles! All glory and praise to Him.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. {via}

2 Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. {via}

 happy Monday, xo!
