Today, I’ll teach you how to make homemade hummus. Although, none of the photos turned out as good as I would’ve liked, so we’ll be limited on pictures for this recipe.
What you will need,
- 1 can (16 oz.) of chick peas, with 1/2 the liquid
- 2 tablespoons of EVOO (extra virgin olive oil)
- 4 tablespoons of lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon of minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- herbs, peppers, or whatever flavor you’d like to add (I used peppers and cilantro)
*Note: I used way too many peppers. Lesson learned. Therefore, I suggest adding herbs/pepper to taste.
Step 1: Add the chick peas, 1/2 of the liquid, peppers (or herbs), minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and EVOO into a blender or food processor.
Step 2: Mix/blend well, until creamy.
Step 3: Add mixture into serving dish, add garnish.
Step 4: Serve and enjoy!
Easy breezy, huh?
Ever wondered what to do with old leftover tortilla shells? Drizzle them with EVOO, sprinkle with salt, bake at 350° for 15 minutes (or until toasted)… re-purposed in to chips.
Voila! You’ve got a tasty, healthy snack and you’ve successfully cleaned out the pantry.
Try this healthy, homemade snack and let me know what you think. It was a hit in the Heape home, although next time I’ll go a little lighter on the peppers!
happy snackin’, the newlyweds
