In Sunday school this week, we studied Esther and the Lord specifically spoke to me about His grace. Reid (our teacher) told us a story about his daughter asking him why she was in their family, why she was born in America, and why was she blessed with so much? Often I find myself asking similar questions, especially in this season of my life. Why me, Lord? Why my baby girl? And the answer for Caroline and for each of us is the same, because God has a purpose and a plan for us – right where we are.
It’s because of God’s grace that we are right where we belong. It’s His grace that I was chosen to be Joy Belle’s mommy. His grace that keeps me strong for my little girl. It is His grace that will make Joy Belle all the stronger in the future. His grace that will save her and make her a Proverbs 31 woman.
Before you were formed, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart. Jeremiah 1:5
So the next time I’m discouraged and crying out to the Lord asking Him, why me? Why us? Why my baby? I hope to remember this lesson and scripture. I hope to be reminded that before Joy Belle was born, before I was born – He set us apart. He knew me. He knew her. And He set us apart. He has big plans for us. And at the end of the day, all I can hope is that He receives all the glory! Like Esther, I pray He uses me, Justin, and Joy Belle for great things!
