This past week, my sister and her husband rode an elephant. That’s right, an elephant. As insanely awesome as that is, I found my happy place watching my little one play in the bathtub and scrubbing her tiny toes. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to ride an elephant one day and hope to have the opportunity whenever we visit the McVays in Korea. But today, I am beyond happy to soak up the little moments with my family of three. Cuddling on the couch with Justin and Joy Belle on Saturday mornings… that’s my happy place. In a booth at the Last Resort with a baby that wants her mommy and a husband that wants to spoil his wife… that’s my happy place. Rocking my sleepy, teething baby to back to sleep for the umpteenth time… that’s my happy place.
My sister found her happy place too. She lives in south Korea with her husband (and her pup) and is enjoying life as an Air Force wife. They travel and ride elephants and fly planes. Our lives are literally worlds apart and our happy places couldn’t be more different. But that’s the beauty of it, happiness can be found anywhere and so can love. Which is why I love that quote by Lana del Rey so much, “When someone else’s happiness is your happiness, that is love.”
I couldn’t be more happy for my sister and Mike. I’m so thankful she found love, even if it took her halfway around the world. And I’m blessed beyond words to have found love – for my Savior, the love of my life, and that sweet baby.
What is your happy place?
