last day of kindergarten

Well, we did it. Joy Belle is a kindergarten graduate and will be starting first grade this fall. I honestly can’t believe it. She’s growing up way too fast, it seems. It’s bittersweet to see her blossoming into a little girl, when part of me wants her to be my baby forever.

She officially graduated from kindergarten the week of her 6th birthday. That same week, she told me, “Do you know I’m 6? Not 10. You need to remember I’m just a kid.” She’s got some sass.

Over the 2019-20 school year, we both learned so much. She learned to read! Although she’s a little perfectionist and would tell you she still can’t, “because (she) can’t read big books.” She thrives on art and science, is fascinated by math, but gets easily frustrated when something doesn’t come easily for her. Ahem, reading.

She’s very into fashion, drawing, and design. Her attention to detail is meticulous to fault, and I see so much of me in her, it’s scary at times. She also enjoys telling stories, so I thought it would be fun to end this update with a little Q&A with Joy Belle.
