A week in the life of a Heape… To kickstart last week, Mallory and I added a few, new door hangers to our Chevvy & Ron’s booth. We were excited to have a few, southern staples available in our custom, door hangers!
Last week I picked up our 4th farm to table box, in it I found fresh carrots. There is just something about them that makes me think of that darn rabbit and makes me want to say, “What’s up, Doc?”
On the 4th of July eve, Justin and I spent the evening with a few of our favorite friends – the McBrides.
While there, we gave James a stuffed, golden heart I found online. You have to check out the site, it’s iheartguts.com – they have every organ imaginable, from a heart to ovaries in plush form. I couldn’t resist the golden heart for my favorite, little heart transplant champ!
For the actual 4th, it rained all day so Justin and I had a Walking Dead marathon with the Glows, Chris (J’s brother), and Chris M. (a high school friend) – which wasn’t exactly exciting. Although, we did have lots of snacks, wings, and homemade pizza, along with some festive decor from last year’s celebration. To end the night, we drove out to the Exchange Club Fairgrounds for Albany’s annual firework show.
It was back to work on Friday and a low-key evening for us. Then Saturday, I spent the morning with my Mama at some thrift shops. It’s definitely one of my favorite ways to spend time with my sweet Mama. There is just something about my parents house and the wide-open pastures that will always be home to me. Too many good memories made in those cow pastures. (If that’s not country, I don’t know what is.)
Saturday evening, Mallory and I cooked up a spread for our men. It was a combinations of simple recipes she found on Pinterest, but boy oh boy were they delicious. I’ll be sharing a few of the recipes soon. While we put the little bits to bed, the guys went night fishing. The evening ended with a friendly game of Gin Rummy, in which I’m sad to say I was not the winner.
After what seems like weeks of rain, a little bit of sunshine was much needed on Sunday afternoon. Justin and I relaxed by the pool, read a good book, and snoozed. It was so nice and much needed vitamin D.
How was your weekend? How’d you celebrate America’s birthday?
